Cotton candy clouds
swirling behind the
silhouette of trees.
Night in the distance,
blanketing the land
in a smooth blackness.
The descending sun;
a radiant glow
behind a mighty
mountainous fortress,
named for the diamonds
hidden in secret
mazes of caverns.
Bleeding painted dabs;
watercolors of
orange, yellow, pink
stroked on the canvas
of the endless sky.
Fireworks of light
before darkness falls.
Tropical palette
on a summers night.
Memories of home.
We were instructed to describe a picture in poetry. I chose a postcard of a Hawaiian sunset.

Each line of the poem contains 5 syllables.
